Volkswagen Multivan: Decoding the Cost from Showroom Stars to Second-hand Gems

Volkswagen Multivan is a front- or all-wheel drive minivan. The car has been produced since 1992. The facelift of this model was carried out in 2010.

• Third generation - 2016 through 2022. The vehicle is built on the MQB platform. The minibus has a seating capacity of up to nine passenger seats, including the driver. The Multivan is offered with an unprecedented range of powertrain options. In addition to the even more efficient TSI6 and TDI5 engines, a hybrid drive system (eHybrid) is offered for the first time. It features these engines 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TDi, and 1.4 TSI eHybrid. Transmission is automatic and manual.
• Fourth generation - from 2021 to the present day. The combination of a powerful turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric drive with no localized emissions provides driving freedom with a range of up to 48 km on electric drive alone. On longer journeys, the system automatically starts the TSI engine, increasing the driving range. The Multivan, built on the Tiguan's MQB platform, eschews diesels and makes do with two four-cylinder gasoline engines. The first, 1.5 TSI, develops 136 hp. It is backed up by a 204bhp 2.0 TSI. In both cases, a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission is a must. This generation offers an electrified version. It combines a 1.4 TSI four-cylinder engine with 136 hp and an electric motor with 116 hp, giving a total of 218 hp. Thanks to the 13 kWh battery, the Multivan has a range of 48 kilometers (WLTP) on electric power. Recharging takes from 5 hours with a 2.3 kW socket to 3 hours and 40 minutes with a 3.6 kW socket. In this case, the DSG has only 6 gears.
