Volkswagen is a German car brand that is associated with reliability and endurance. Although the first cars were produced before and during World War II, the Volkswagen name crystallised only after it. The first prototype of the car was created in 1934, but only after nine drafts was it decided to put it into mass production, and in 1938 the construction of a factory in Lower Saxony began.
Production of the model, named KDF (Kraft durch Freude), finally began in 1941, but due to the war effort, only 630 examples of the car were produced by 1944.
