Renault Clio: Navigating the Price Spectrum of France's Beloved Hatchback

The Renault Clio is one of the most popular compact cars in the world. It is a B-Class compact hatchback that has been produced by Renault since 1990, replacing the Renault 5.

First generationClio I (1990-1998) is presented in several body variants: 3-door or 5-door hatchback. Transmission is manual or automatic. The car was supplied with gasoline engines 1.2 and 1.4 liters, as well as with diesel engines 1.7 and 1.9 liters. Since 1992, gasoline engines began to be supplemented with an injection system, replacing carburetors that do not meet the new environmental standards.

Second generationClio II (1998-2005) was built on the Renault A (X65) platform. At first the engine series remained unchanged, but in early 1999 a sporty 1.6 liter (16-valve) version was added, and then all the old gasoline engines were replaced. Thus came the 172 hp version of the Clio RS 172 with a 2-liter, 16-valve engine and a top speed of 220 km/h.

Third generationClio III (2005-2012) was built on the B platform developed together with Nissan. This version is equipped with a six-speed gearbox and a new non-inflated 2.0-liter engine. In spring 2007, a station wagon version called Clio Grandtour was introduced.

Fourth generationClio IV (2012-2019) was presented as a five-door hatchback and station wagon under the name Renault Clio Sports Tourer. The car was supplied with diesel and gasoline engines from 0.9 to 1.5 liters with an output of up to 220 hp (for the "turbo" series).

Fifth generationClio V (2019-present) is built on the new CMF-B platform. If we compare with previous platforms, there are more than 80% of new parts here. This modification in the base version is equipped with a 1.0-liter SCe gasoline engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. This unit has two levels of boost - 65 and 75 hp, and you can choose between different types of equipment: Play, Iconic, S Edition, RS Line and RS Line BOSE Edition.
