Nissan Qashqai: Decoding the Cost Spectrum of Crossover Innovation

The Nissan Qashqai is a compact SUV in the Japanese manufacturer's lineup, produced at Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK since December 2006 and was the first model designed by Nissan Design Europe in London.

The Nissan Qashqai was first unveiled as a concept car at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, and made its production debut at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

Generations of Nissan Qashqai:

• First generation, J10 (2006-2013). With the first-generation Qashqai, Nissan wanted to fill the gap in the lineup between the Nissan Tiida and Nissan Primera. It comes with airbags, ABS and ESP as standard equipment. It is available with front or all-wheel drive. The Qashqai's dynamic, sleek silhouette is somewhat reminiscent of the Nissan Murano. In early 2010, the first-generation Nissan Qashqai underwent a facelift, receiving, a completely redesigned front fascia and LED taillights. All variants also received ESP as standard equipment. A year later, in 2011, the powertrain lineup of the first-generation Nissan Qashqai was updated. The car is equipped with gasoline engines 1.6 L P4 84 kW (114 hp), 2.0 L P4 104 kW (142 hp), diesel engines: 1.5 L P4 78 kW (107 hp), 2 L P4 110 kW (150 hp).
• Second Generation, J11 (2013-2021). The second generation Nissan Qashqai (J11) was introduced in November 2013. The new Qashqai is 49 mm longer, slightly lower and wider than its predecessor. The Qashqai Premier Limited Edition was a limited edition of 2007 and was offered in four colors. All Limited Edition cars were equipped with the 1.6 dCi engine and advanced ALL-MODE 4×4-i drive. There was a choice of two gasoline engines: the 1.2 DIG-T 115 hp and 1.6 DIG-T 163 hp, as well as two diesel engines: the 1.5 dCi 110 hp and 1.6 dCi 130 hp, a six-speed manual or CVT Xtronic automatic transmission, and two drive types - single or dual axle. The 2018 Nissan Qashqai was first introduced with the ProPILOT system, which is Nissan's first step towards autonomous driving.
• Third generation, J12 (from 2021). Introduced in 2021, the third-generation Nissan Qashqai was the first new model for the European market to utilize the CMF-C platform, which provides the most advanced design and technology currently available in the automotive industry. The new generation Qashqai was available with the familiar 1.3 DIG-T gasoline engine from the previous model, but with mild hybrid technology available in two power options - 140 hp and 158 hp. The model was produced with a six-speed manual transmission or the new Xtronic automatic transmission. The 2022 model also received a new powertrain that debuted in the European market, with the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER coming in the fall of that year. The system combines a 158-hp 1.5-liter gasoline engine with variable compression ratio with a 190-hp electric motor.

One of the strengths of the Nissan Qashqai is its variety of motors and transmissions.
