Mercedes-Benz ML: Decoding the Price Range of a Luxury SUV Legend

Mercedes-Benz ML is a series of premium mid-size crossovers combining comfort, good off-road ability and sporty character. The ML model was popular among buyers who appreciate the combination of luxury and off-road capabilities. The model was equipped with active and passive safety systems, providing a high degree of protection for driver and passengers.

There have been 3 generations of the Mercedes-Benz ML:

• First generation, W163 (1997-2005) was introduced in 1997 and was one of the first premium crossovers on the market. It was a 5-door SUV with a frame construction. There were 3 model variants available with four-, six- or eight-cylinder gasoline engines: the basic ML230 equipped with a 4-cylinder engine, 2.3 liters in displacement, 110 kW/150 hp at 5400 rpm; 6-cylinder model ML320 with a V6 engine, 160 kW/218 hp, which is characterized by low fuel consumption and low toxicity of exhaust gases. In 2000, production of Mercedes ML 55 AMG crossover began. The top version of the family was equipped with an atmospheric engine V8, 5.4 liters, M113 series.
• Second generation, W164. (2005-2011) is a five-door crossover with a load-bearing body and an automatic transmission. The range of powertrains (3 of them, V6 and turbodiesels are new) for 2006 - gasoline ML350 (3.5 liter V6 24V, 272 hp, 350 Nm) and ML500 (5.0 liter V8 24V, 306 hp, 460 Nm); 3.0 liter V6 24V turbodiesel with CR system of new generation in ML280 CDI (190 hp, 440 Nm) and ML320 CDI (224 hp, 510 Nm) variants. Since 2008, all MLs were equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission 7G-Tronic.
• Third generation, W166. (2011-2015) has retained the sporty character of its predecessors. The Mercedes-Benz ML 350 comes with an updated 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbodiesel engine as standard equipment.

In 2015, the Mercedes-Benz ML was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
