Mazda: Price analysis of Japanese cars with the soul of motion

In 1920, in Hiroshima, Japan, Zujiro Matsuda founded a firm called Toyo Cork Kogyo. As you can understand from the name, in the beginning the company's activities were centred on the production of cork. However, soon Matsuda decided to diversify the business by starting to produce cars, and in 1931 the Mazda brand appeared. The name Mazda is related to the surname ‘Matsuda’ and also refers to the name of the god of wisdom and harmony - Ahura Mazda.

Mazda's first model was the three-wheeled car ‘Go’, which was exported to China and India, due to its manoeuvrability it was in demand. This model demonstrated the company's innovative approach and its belief in the possibility of success, which reflected the ‘Hiroshima spirit’.

Mazda's originality was evident in 1945, when, after the atomic bombing, the company took part in the reconstruction of the city. The factory remained virtually unharmed and became a centre of assistance to the residents.

In 1960 Mazda produced its first passenger car, the R160 Coupe. Later there were models such as Carol, Cosmo Sport, RX-3, and MX-5 Miata was introduced in 1989 and became a symbol of the brand due to its handling. Today, the model range includes sedans, hatchbacks, crossovers, sports cars and electric cars.

In recent years, Mazda has been actively developing electric and hybrid vehicles in an effort to reduce the negative impact on the environment. The MX-30 EV, introduced in 2020, was the first step in this direction, combining design and advanced technology. Mazda plans to develop new electric platforms to create more competitive models that can meet the diverse needs of consumers.

The company is also focusing on the development of autonomous technology in an effort to provide a safe and comfortable driving experience. Innovative driver assistance systems being implemented in today's vehicles provide an additional level of safety and allow drivers to focus on driving. These technologies also aim to improve the interaction between driver and car, making driving intuitive and enjoyable.

Advantages of Mazda vehicles:

- Attractive appearance that stands out among its peers. Sleek lines, harmonious proportions and sporty accents. A variety of colour solutions and configurations, allowing you to choose the right option.

The future of the brand lies in revising the idea of car production. This will allow to create vehicles with high power and controllability, with low fuel consumption. New approaches will provide greater comfort and manoeuvrability while minimising weight and dimensions.

The cost of Mazda cars depends on several factors:

  • Model (sedan, hatchback, crossover)
  • Equipment and additional options
  • Type of engine and transmission
  • Year of manufacture (for used cars)
  • Sales region

Average price of popular Mazda models:

  • Mazda3: 25,000 - 35,000 euros
  • Mazda6: 30 000 - 45 000 euros
  • CX-5: 30,000 - 50,000 euros

The most affordable car in the Mazda range is usually the Mazda2 compact hatchback (known as the Demio in some regions). Approximate cost:

  • $15,000 to $18,000 in North America
  • 14,000 to 16,000 euros in Europe

The most expensive car in the Mazda line-up on the European market is the CX-9 crossover in the top configuration. Prices for this model can reach 70,000 euros and more, depending on the options selected.

Factors affecting the price of the top-of-the-line CX-9 model:

  • Engine power (2.5-litre SKYACTIV-G turbocharged petrol engine)
  • Drive type (all-wheel drive i-ACTIV AWD is more expensive than front-wheel drive)
  • Interior trim (Nappa leather, natural wood inlays)
  • Audio system (top system Bose with 12 speakers)
  • Additional equipment packages (panoramic roof, projection display, all-round vision system).

In addition, the price may increase due to additional options, such as ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, driver assistance system i-ACTIVSENSE (adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance system, etc.).
