Hyundai Ioniq 5: Decoding the Price Points of a Game-Changing EV

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a mid-sized electric crossover vehicle, first unveiled on February 23, 2021. With a skillful combination of top-notch performance and a host of smart features, this compact electric SUV will be a real player that will drive you further and further thanks to its 507 km range and ultra-fast charging technology.

The Ioniq 5 was developed under project code NE as the first car on the E-GMP platform. The special platform for electric vehicles allows for a completely flat interior floor and a 3-meter wheelbase. The flat floor allowed Hyundai engineers to develop a retractable front center console, dubbed "Universal Island," that can slide back 140 mm (5.5 inches). The vehicle has a cargo volume of 531 liters (18.8 cubic feet) behind the rear seats, which can be increased to nearly 1,600 liters (56.5 cubic feet) with the second-row seats folded down. Increased rear legroom has been achieved by making the front seats about 30 percent thinner than conventional seats.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is presented in three modifications:

  • Standard Range - base version with a 58 kWh battery combined with a 170 horsepower (350 N-m) motor. The all-wheel drive model is equipped with a 235 horsepower (350 N-m) motor. The car demonstrates a balanced combination of power and economy, providing excellent dynamics on urban highways and long trips. This model has a range of up to 480 km on a single charge, making it an ideal choice for everyday use.
  • Long Range. Equipped with a battery with a capacity of 72.6 kWh. The rear electric motor is capable of 218 horsepower (470 N-m), while the all-wheel drive version demonstrates a power output of 306 hp (820 N-m). The range is slightly reduced to 460 kilometers, but drivers get additional driving options for challenging routes and bad weather conditions.
  • Extra Long Range. This car model is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 77.7 kWh. The rear electric motor, has a power of 228 horsepower (350 N-m), while the all-wheel drive version shows a power of 325 hp (820 N-m). This version is focused on maximum comfort and high technology, equipped with advanced driver assistance systems and multimedia features.
