Ford Explorer: Unveiling the Price Spectrum of this Full-Size SUV in Europe

Ford Explorer is a large American SUV that has managed to win the hearts of millions of car enthusiasts around the world over the years. The Explorer is known for comfort, roominess and reliability. It offers a spacious interior, which can comfortably accommodate up to 7 passengers, and a large trunk. Most modifications are equipped with an all-wheel drive system, which allows you to feel confidently both on asphalt and off-road. The car also received a lot of useful systems - safety and comfort, including adaptive cruise control, automatic braking system and multimedia system with a large touch screen.

The Ford Explorer has gone through several generations, each of which has received certain innovations and improvements:

  • First generation, UN46 (1990-1994). The first generation of Explorer was presented in 1990 and immediately gained popularity due to brutal design and high cross-country ability. It was a station wagon with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission. The powertrain was gasoline V6 with 155-190 hp.
  • Second generation, UN105/UN150 (1995-2001). The second generation was characterized by smoother body lines and an expanded range of engines. The main characteristics remained unchanged, but the power of engines was increased to 290 hp. There was also an on-board computer. As the main gearbox was installed improved Ford A4LDE or Ford 4R55E, and since 1997 five-speed Ford 5R55E.
  • Third generation, U152 (2001-2005). The third generation Explorer became more comfortable and received a new front end design. Available were gasoline engines V6, V8 with power up to 202-290 hp. The car was equipped with automatic transmission Ford 5R55W, which is an improved version of the last generation gearbox, and manual - Mazda M5-R2.
  • Fourth generation, U251 (2006-2010). The fourth generation Explorer received a more modern interior and new engines (4.0L Cologne and 4.6L Modular). In addition, the car began to be equipped with 2 automatic transmissions 5 and 6-speed Ford 5R55W and Ford R6 respectively.
  • Fifth Generation, U502 (2010-2019). The fifth generation of Explorer became technological and received economical engines. In 2015, the model was modernized, changing the appearance. Also, instead of the 2.0 liter EcoBoost unit, there was a 2.3 liter EcoBoost turbo engine with an output of 280 hp.
  • The sixth generation, U625 (from 2019). The sixth generation Explorer is a modern SUV that combines comfort, style and technology. The base engine is a turbo 2.3 EcoBoost (304 hp). There's also a new 3.3 Cyclone V6 atmospheric with combined fuel injection. For 2020, the 6th generation gets a hybrid version. It features a 3.3-liter V6 engine and an electric motor.

In 2023, an electric version of the Ford Explorer was introduced, called the Explorer EV.
