Citroën Xsara

Citroen Xsara: Analyzing the Current Market Value of this Iconic Compact

Citroën Xsara is a model that left a trace in the history of the French car industry. Produced from 1997 to 2006, it managed to win the hearts of many car enthusiasts thanks to its thoughtful design, comfortable suspension and extended equipment. It is a class C car, which was available in coupe and 5-door hatchback, as well as 5-door station wagon (Xsara Break) with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The design followed the trends of the late 90s. The model received a variety of power units, which changed from generation to generation - diesel, gasoline engines and turbodiesel.

Soft suspension, comfortable seats and good noise insulation ensured a high level of travel comfort. A spacious interior and a roomy trunk made the Xsara suitable for everyday use and family travel. Despite the soft suspension, the Xsara had good handling. The car was available in 4 configurations - X, SX, Exclusive (for hatchbacks) and VTS (for coupes). Safety was provided by ABS, ESP, front airbags, sometimes side airbags and curtains, depending on the kit.

The Citroën Xsara has several generations:

  • First generation Mark 1 (1997-2000). The first generation cars received an independent McPherson suspension at the front and torsion beam suspension at the rear. There was also a choice of different powertrains - gasoline, diesel and turbodiesel with a capacity of up to 2.0 liters and up to 166 hp.
  • Second generation Mark 2 (2000-2006). From the 2nd generation, new 16-valve engines of 1.6 liters and 2.0 liters with an output of up to 164 hp were used, and the 1.8-liter unit was removed. In 2002 and 2003, the interior was slightly changed, and in 2006 the car was stopped producing, because it was replaced by the C4.

On the basis of this car they created a compact van, which was called Xsara Picasso. In addition, different types of motorcycle racing cars were produced.
