Citroen C1: Decoding the Price Spectrum of this Economical French Urban Runabout

The Citroën C1 is a compact city car suitable for metropolitan areas. It is characterized by maneuverability, economy and stylish design. It is a small hatchback, which was produced from 2011 to 2021. The C1 belonged to the budget segment, which made it affordable for many buyers. The car was assembled at Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech, s.r.o. (TPCA) in Kolín, Czech Republic. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the car is easy to park and maneuver in urban areas.

The Citroën C1 has received several generations:

  • First Generation (2005-2014). It is a simple and reliable car suitable for novice drivers and for urban use. The first generation Citroën C1 was developed jointly with Peugeot and Toyota. The car was offered in three- and five-door variants. Gasoline engines of 1.0 and 1.4 liters with power from 68 to 72 hp are provided for the car. Transmission - five-speed manual or robotized, drive - front. There are 3 configurations available - Vibe, Rhythm, Code. In the basic equipment the car has ABS, two airbags and a system of trajectory correction when braking in corners.
  • Second Generation (2014-2021). The second generation of Citroën C1 received a more modern design, an expanded list of equipment, excellent noise insulation. Although this generation has almost identical dimensions with its predecessor, which is not strange, because the car is built on the same platform, the developers have tried very hard to create an interesting and attractive design that would distinguish the hatchback from competitors in the same segment. Drive, variety of gearboxes remained unchanged. Engines are petrol engines of 1.0 and 1.2 liters with power up to 72 hp. You can also choose between three configurations - Touch, Feel and Flair.

The Citroën C1 is the choice for those looking for a compact, economical and stylish car for city driving. It is suitable for novice drivers and for those who appreciate simplicity and reliability. But do not forget that this model has a few disadvantages, for example, limited space on the rear seats, small capacity of the trunk. There is also a feeling of budgetarity of finishing materials in some configurations.
