BMW Z4: Navigating the Price Range of BMW's Stylish Roadster
BMW Z4 is a two-seat passenger car of sporty type (roadster), which started to be produced since 2002. To date, three generations of this car have been produced.
First generation (E85, E86) - 2002-2008. Designed by Danish Anders Warming, it was only available in the European and American markets. In 2002, the model won the Design of the Year award from Automobile magazine. It is available in a more powerful Z4 M version. Initially, the BMW Z4 is offered only with inline 6-cylinder engines. They generate 125 kW (170 hp) at 2.2 liters, 141 kW (192 hp) at 2.5 liters and 170 kW (231 hp) in the 3-liter version. In 2006, a coupe with a rigid, non-folding roof (E86) was created.
Second generationE89 - 2009-2016. Streamlined lines, long hood, wide rear end: the next generation of the BMW Z4 looks extremely inspiring. In the BMW Z4 (E89), the development team has abandoned the soft textile roof with the optional hard roof and equipped the roadster with a multi-part folding roof made of aluminum. The first cars of this generation are powered by six-cylinder engines, from the 2.5-liter sDrive23i with 150 kW (204 hp) to the top-of-the-line sDrive35i model with a 3.0-liter engine and 225 kW (306 hp). The sDrive35is model, available since 2010, also uses this engine, which produces 250 kW (340 hp) after the upgrade and remains the most powerful unit until the end of production in 2016. After the 2011 model update, two turbocharged four-cylinder engines are offered, replacing the less powerful six-cylinder units. In 2013, a slightly weaker base variant was introduced: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 115 kW (156 hp).
Third generationG29 - 2018 - 2022. The third-generation roadster has a radically progressive design with the standard M Sport Package and state-of-the-art technology. LED headlights draw attention in the dark. The rear lights are equipped with OLED lighting, i.e. organic light-emitting diodes. The Z4 impresses with its sporty appearance in any light. The lowered suspension, excellent weight distribution and rigid chassis give the BMW Z4 excellent handling characteristics on winding roads. The cornering stability ensures extremely precise handling and great driving pleasure. The four- and six-cylinder Twin Scroll Turbo engines provide ample dynamics: from the 2-liter unit with 145 kW (197 hp) to the M engine, which in the BMW Z4 M40i Roadster develops 250 kW (340 hp) at 3.0 liters.
