BMW X5

BMW X5: Decoding the Price Range of BMW's Iconic Luxury SUV

The BMW X5 is a mid-size crossover vehicle produced by the BMW Group since 1999. To define the type of vehicle, BMW has come up with an entirely new category called Sports Activity Vehicle, or SAV for short. The same can be said for the more compact BMW X3 and the even more compact BMW X1.

  • First generation (E53) 1999-2006. The appearance of the first generation BMW X5 caused quite a stir in the automobile market, because, on the one hand, BMW had no experience in the production of cars of this type, and on the other hand, being at that time the owner of Land Rover, created a car that could confidently threaten the concerns that had been producing such cars for many years. BMW once again proved its class by creating an excellent model, suitable both for a stylish trip to the opera house and for driving on moderately difficult terrain. In September 2003, the BMW X5 underwent a facelift that included revised headlights, fog lights, a modified radiator grille, a new hood and taillights. The car is powered by a gasoline internal combustion engine. Transmission: 5-, 6-speed. MKPP and AKPP.
  • Second generation (E70) 2006-2013. The model was equipped with an advanced all-wheel drive system known as BMW xDrive, but its chassis is still best suited for use on paved roads. A high-performance version of the BMW X5 M was also unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April 2009, powered by a 4.4-liter V8 M TwinPower Turbo with 555 hp and maximum torque of 680 Nm, which at the time of its debut was the most powerful car in its class. The cars from this generation are powered by gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines. Transmission: 6-speed automatic transmission.
  • Third generation (F15) 2013-2018. The most powerful versions of the BMW X5 F15 were the models with a V8 gasoline engine - the xDrive50i with 450 hp (650 Nm) and, of course, the BMW X5 M (F85) with 575 hp (750 Nm). The most powerful diesel version was the BMW X5 M50d variant, powered by a 381 hp (740 Nm) inline six-cylinder diesel engine. All models were available with the xDrive system and an eight-speed automatic as standard equipment.
  • Fourth generation (G05) from 2018. The latest version of the BMW X5 is available with optional air suspension with adjustable ground clearance and damping levels. The turbocharged V8, on the other hand, reaches 600 hp in the sporty X5M version. Only the oldest iteration of the model was available with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. All later versions were offered with six- or eight-speed automatic transmissions.
